Drake Working On Last 'Thank Me Later' Song
The sun just came out. I mean I haven't seen it yet cause I am in the studio but I know it did. So good morning. I am working on the last song for Thank Me Later. What a different journey it's been this go round. I wish I could share so much more with you but there are just too many new people involved who have dedicated their time to "the reveal". Should I just post the entire thing up now and say no the methods and yes to the mayhem???? Ha. I'd love too, but this is something special that I feel needs to be delivered to you in the way you deserve it to be. Remember the days of well thought out visuals, album thank you's, funk flex rants, all the things that came with the release of a new album, the things we'd look forward to...well I hope I can make you remember. I've worked hard on this body of work and I feel like every artist involved has given me their absolute best. I cannot wait till it's yours. The relief I will experience on release day will be euphoric. I look in peoples eyes and see not so much the doubt, but the uncertainty, the question that looms...and whatever the answer is I think we're both ready for it. These overwhelming moments are to be cherished. On that note fond readers, I will see u soon somewhere along the way. Mr. Walters pull the car around front...its time to go home.
"History will be kind to me...for I intend to write it"

Lil Wayne might be gone ’til November, but Young Money is still in the house. Nicki Minaj and Drake take center stage next month as Weezy’s protégés grace the cover of the May 2010 issue of XXL. Both have built a deafening buzz throughout the past year and change, with standout verses and chart topping singles under their respective belts. *Video* : Nicki Minaj Shoots ‘Massive Attack’
“The song is called ‘Massive Attack,’ ” she explained. “I’m excited for people to hear me … doing more than one verse. It’s really creative. Shout-out to [songwriter] Sean Garrett. I’ve always loved his style. He really kinda had a great idea of what I wanted to do. I wanted to be theatrical, but I am very serous about what I do. He was able to mesh that together and have a really fun but direct record, if that makes sense. … This video, it’s just, like, monsta. The video is a monsta.”
Drake, the Birdman. Garrett and Amber Rose all made the trek for the clip, directed by Hype Williams. Earlier in the afternoon, a helicopter swooped down as Minaj and Rose put pedal to the metal in a pink Lambo.
“I brought my BFF Amber Rose out here,” Nicki said while sitting in her ride. “This is a massive attack. We shot the helicopter scene. Obviously, I had to have a hot-pink Lamborghini. We’re having fun in the car, and we see a freakin’ helicopter chase us. So we get on the walkie-talkie, like, ‘Mayday! Mayday!’ It’s really fashion and beauty shots, and we’re acting like we’re doing something important.
“I kinda always like to do things in an unexpected fashion,” she added. “I didn’t want to shoot the typical new-artist vision. Thank God I have a wonderful label that stands behind me and my vision. I met Hype in a freakin’ airport. I didn’t recognize him without his dreads. We exchanged information, and it happened to be a week before I wanted to shoot a video. I told him the idea. Of course, I had to let Baby and Slim know and hope they would understand my expensive taste. It all came together. Sean Garrett is on the hook.”
Nicki also filmed scenes where she jumps in the mud and crawls through the forest. “It’s just beautiful — the clothes, everything. The ambiance,” she said. “It’s for all the girls that like to play dress-up. They’re gonna love this one.”
Minaj’s next video will be a feature: She and Usher are shooting “Lil’ Freak.” Meanwhile, the Young Money diva will also be working on her debut LP. Like her song, it will also be massive.
“You can expect it to be almost like the soundtrack to a movie,” she explained. “It’s gonna take you somewhere that … it’s kinda gonna tell a story. I didn’t just want to make an album that had a club record, just the obvious. I wanted to paint a very graphic picture. And every record that I’m doing for the album, I can see the stage show, I can see the video. It’s just gonna be big. You can expect it to be big.”

*Video* : Drake Introduces ‘Drake The Artist’ In ‘Over’ Video
While filming a video for his song “Over” on Friday in Los Angeles, Drake stood in front of an all-white backdrop wearing a white tee and white sneakers. What does he do in the clip? He does him.
“This is my first video,” the Young Money franchise player said, sitting in his trailer. “I’ve shot a lot of videos before, but this is my first attempt to establish myself as Drake the artist. Shooting the other videos I’ve done has been great. I really don’t care what other people think about them, they were great experiences for me. I’ve learned a lot from them. Today, I’m shooting with somebody I really look up to and respect. I’m shooting with Anthony Mandler.”
Mandler, who has also made videos with Jay-Z and Rihanna, worked with Drake before on Mary J. Blige’s “The One.”
“We talked colors, we talked epic, emotion-evoking visuals,” the 23-year-old Toronto native said of the collaborative “Over” video. “The story is actually interesting. The song is so aggressive, and it’s sort of a love story in the video. It has a lot to do with the album [Thank Me Later]. The album is about finding love, feeling ‘Have I sold my soul’ as far as ‘Will I ever be able to gain the trust of a woman? Will I only be able to be around the dark, evil women? Will I ever find that pure love?’ Those elements are in the video. I look strong, I feel great, my knee’s feeling great. I’m jumping around, doing all kinds of stuff.”
The song “Over” touches on Drake reaction to fame and stardom. ” ‘Over’ was definitely a choice of mine,” he said of releasing it as a single. “I’ve got a lot of great songs on the album. A lot of songs that sound familiar but are brand-new. I still got the same emotions of the songs you love, whether it be ‘Say Something’ or ‘Best I Ever Had’ or ‘Bedrock.’ For people who enjoy what I’ve done in the past, I’ve got a lot of songs to cater to them. But ‘Over’ was a song I did for myself.
“We took a trip to Jamaica, where I did a lot of work for my album,” he elaborated. “There was this calm before the storm, and ‘Over’ represented the storm to me. It’s the moment. I wanted to emerge at first from this album and just let people know ‘This is how I’m coming out in the public eye. I’m ready for anything.’ Then when you get the album, it’s like, ‘Oh, he’s still human. He’s still thinking the same way.’ I wanted people to understand I could have lost it. ‘Over’ could have been my entire album. Just ’cause that’s what this industry and game will do to you if you lose yourself.”

Universal’s “Thank Me Later” Listening Session
In Toronto this afternoon a few of us got an invite from Universal Music to meet Drake and listen to some new tracks from his soon–to–be–released album. It sounds like a monster to me. It was really good stuff. And Drake is a nice kid. Here’s what I can tell you…
1) There’s a song on the disc called “Fireworks” that has the greatest beat ever. Drake has this sidekick producer called 40, and he’s talented. I met him as well this afternoon and he’s also a good kid. He’s about to be very, very busy. “Fireworks” has a hook on it courtesy of Kings of Leon. It’s catchy.
2) There is a Kanye West–produced track on the album that comes with a story. The track was made by Kanye for Beyonce, but Drake really wanted it so he wrote her a handwritten letter asking if he could use it. She read it and thought it was sweet and e–mailed him to give her permission. It’s a great track.
3) There’s a Jay–Z/Drake track that he played for us – minus Jay’s verse. Jay–Z doesn’t let anyone hear his stuff before it comes out. Drake claims it is the greatest verse Jay’s ever done.
4) I think the final track on the album is called “Thank Me Now” or something. He played us a recorded verse then did another one live and it was one of the best. Really cool.
5) He sings on a bunch of tracks on the album.
6) This Saturday Drake will be in L.A. doing a track with Dr. Dre and Eminem.
7) Yes, there is a Timbaland beat on the album.
It is highly possible that the biggest album of 2010 will be from a Canadian, and his name will be Drake.
Drake still recording but Thank Me Later coming soon….

Lil Wayne Finally Goes To Jail
Quoted from Lil Wayne HQThe time has finally come for Lil Wayne… he got sentenced to one year in jail earlier today at around 2PM. As previously reported, Wayne’s sentencing got delayed a couple of times due to dental surgery and a fire. If Weezy maintains good behavior inside prison, his sentence can be shortened to up to eight months which would mean he would be out later this year. Lil Tunechi’s very last tweet on his twitter account reads: “Law is mind without reason. ……………..I’ll return”, and here is an update from today inside the Manhattan courthouse courtesy of J-Rod: “Lil Wayne didn’t speak in the court room, but nodded that he understood the charges. Then he nodded again to Birdman as police cuffed him”.
Even though we won’t be seeing Wayne for a while, we will still be getting new music and music videos from him throughout his time in prison. He shot around 30 to 40 music videos before his jail sentence and some of the music videos we can be looking forward to are: “Steady Mobbin’” and “Single” from the No Ceilings mixtape. Also, I’m not 100% sure, but Wayne might be able to use his Twitter while in prison to keep his fans updated.

Drake & Nicki Minaj Headline MTV Spring Break 2010
The Young Money crew is packing their Louis Vuitton bags and heading south of the border. Hip-hop’s first family will descend on Acapulco, Mexico, for one big spring break party later this month.
Drake and Nicki Minaj will help headline MTV Spring Break 2010, along with other members of the YM supergroup, performing their No. 2 single in the country “BedRock.” Drizzy will get the crowd hyped with “Over,” the first offering from his debut album Thank Me Later, while Young Money’s First Lady ambushes the stage with the first live performance of her new single “Massive Attack,” produced by Sean Garrett and Alex Da Kid.
Hip-hop’s Barbie won’t only pop up during Young Money’s set. Minaj will storm the sandy shores of Mexico with Ludacris for their collaboration “My Chick Bad” from Luda’s Battle of the Sexes album.
The ATL rapper will have spring breakers asking “how low can you go” when he performs the remix to his smash hit with Pitbull, who will get the party started with some of his own crowd pleasers.
If that wasn’t enough, the ladies will break into a sweat once Trey Songz serenades them with material from his Ready album, including the Top 10 hit “Say Aah,” while his labelmate, hip-hop freshman B.o.B, crashes la fiesta with his breakout single “Nothin’ on You” featuring Bruno Mars.
MTV will premiere a performance from a different artist each night at 8 p.m. from March 22-26.
